MERIDIAN — The Choctaw Central girls basketball team made easy work of Crystal Springs High School Thursday night, as they won 62-48 at home in the first round of the South State Tournament.

“We got off to a running start,” Choctaw Central head coach Bill Smith said. “We made on our first four buckets our first few times up the court and just kept going from there.”

The Warriors built up their lead all the way to 43-19 at the half, much in part to Candice Lasiloo (19 points) and Kristen Dixon (12).

Home-field advantage also played a key role in the win for Choctaw Central, as Smith said the home crowd kept his team energized throughout the game.

Choctaw Central will move on to play Pass Christian in the second round of the South State Tournament tonight at 7:30 from Choctaw Central High School.
