West suffers first loss of season

SCOOBA — SCOOBA — West Lauderdale High School suffered its first loss of the season in a 4-2 loss to New Hope High School in Thursday night baseball action.

    The Knights surrendered four unearned runs in the top of the second inning and were unable to score enough to make up the difference as New Hope (23-3) got the win.

    Blake Anderson accounted for both of West's RBIs with a one-run double and a solo home run.

    Starter Will Stokes pitched the first five innings, giving up four unearned runs on six hits and one walk. He also struck out five. Mason Wooldridge pitched the final two innings for the Knights, striking out four and surrendering no hits.

    Anderson was the only multiple hitter for West, as he finished 2-for-3. Fred Franklin score on Anderson's double.

    The Knights (24-1) will wrap up their regular season with a 7 p.m. game today at home against Taylorsville High School.
