Roundup: South men, North women capture MACJC Basketball All-Star games


MERIDIAN — Southeast Lauderdale 8

Quitman 7

    The Southeast Lauderdale baseball team took down Quitman Thursday night, topping the Panthers 8-7 on the road.

    Nathan Ross (2-3) earned the win for the Tigers, pitching 6 1/3 innings while giving up three runs and striking out six batters.

    Ross also went 2/4 with 2 RBIs for Southeast at the plate. Dylan Rivers and Josh Litchfield also went 2/4 for the Tigers.

    Quitman was led by Deshawn Pittman, who tallied a game-high three hits on the night.

    Southeast moves to 8-5 (3-0) with the win and will travel to Wayne County at 1 p.m. today.

West Lauderdale 11

Laurel 0

    Pitcher Ryan Lane led the West Lauderdale baseball team, as the Knights shutout Laurel 11-0 Thursday night.

    Lane pitched a complete game for West, striking out 15 batters while only giving up two hits.

    Colten McKeithen, Cole Gallette Kevin Henson and Daniel Hill all had two hits for the Knights in the win. Blake Anderson hit his second home run of the season for West as well.

    The win moves West Lauderdale to 11-3 (6-0) on the season. The Knights will host Neshoba Central at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
