EMCC sweeps ECCC

SCOOBA — The East Mississippi Community College basketball teams opened their home schedule by sweeping East Central Community College at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum Thursday night.

    The Lions began the evening with an 86-74 victory while the preseason 11th ranked men’s team completed the sweep with an 87-69  triumph in the nitecap.

    Coach Sharon Thompson’s Lady Lions (3-1) were led by Chicago native Dana Gettis with a game-high 20 points followed by Charmane Tims of Clarkdale High School with 16 points.

    Coach Mark White’s men’s squad (2-0) was led by Jacolby Mobley with a game-high 26 points. Devonta Pollard had 13 points and nine rebounds.

    The EMCC women return to action Monday by hosting Shelton State at 5:30 p.m.

    Both teams will host Wallace Stat-Hanceville next Thursday.
