Athletic store hosts grand opening

—    Specializing in running and soccer related products, Soccer Locker and City Runners will celebrate it’s Meridian store’s grand opening this morning at 10 a.m., provided by the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation.

Located in the Meridian Crossroads shopping center, the locally owned business carries popular athletic brands, including Nikes, Asics, Mizuno and more.

Store owner Alaeeddine Khannouchi, a Hattiesburg native, decided to expand the business into the Queen City after he and his brother’s storefront had great success in Hattiesburg. “I was always a runner and played soccer in the past so this job absolutely suits me well,” Khannouchi said.

Earning his degree in Business Administration, Khannouchi serves as manager of the new location, and invites everyone to visit the new store and learn the ins and outs of Soccer Locker’s well-known personal service.

“For runners, we do a foot analysis and we help you find the right shoes for your feet,” Khannouchi explained.

With a professional goal of being successful in the business world and a personal life motto to stay optimistic, Khannouchi spends his free time working to better his business.

“I  think about ideas to improve our business and satisfy our customers more and more.”

As for his plans for the Meridian storefront, Khannouchi has big plans, including a weekly group run.

“We are planning to have a group run once a week starting sometime in November. We welcome beginners, advanced and all running levels,” Khannouchi said.

“The store will be unique because we offer extra services like advice about training for distance running and tricks to stay healthy and injury free plus we offer recovery products as well in the store,” Khannouchi said.

Soccer Locker City Runners is located in the Meridian Crossroads shopping center next to the Spotted Pony Boutique and is open six days a week.
