MCC splits road set

MERIDIAN — The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles returned to action Thursday night looking to stay unbeaten to start the 2013-2014 season. The Lady Eagles secured an 87-65 road victory over Holmes Community College to move its overall record to 4-0 for the season.

    Kristen Sampson led the way in scoring for MCC with 29 points and Victoria Stewart turned in a solid performance for the Lady Eagles with 24 points.

    The MCC men were unable to complete the sweep at fell at the hands of Holmes by a final score of 87-62. The Eagles dropped its overall record to 0-4 with the road setback Thursday evening.

    The MCC women will return to the floor with a road game at Pensacola Junior College this Saturday, while both squads will return to the Graham Gymnasium with a doubleheader next Thursday against Itawamba Community College.

    The women will take to Jim Redgate Floor at 5:30 p.m. and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m.
