Wildcats roll past Panthers on court

MERIDIAN —     Jorden Andrews hit six 3-pointers in the third quarter on his way to a team-high 20 points in leading the Wildcats to a road win Tuesday in Division 5-6A play.

    Meridian, which moved to 16-4 and 3-0 in division, also received 18

points and 11 rebounds from Dennis Miles and 11 points from Jaricus Hubbard.

    The Wildcats travel to Hattiesburg on Friday.

Petal girls     40



    The Meridian girls basketball team took down Petal 49-40 Tuesday night to improve to 17-2 (3-0) on the season.

    Kayla Gordon led the Wildcats with 20 points on the night, while Miracle Dubose scored 12 points on the night.

    Tiearra Johnson scored 18 points for Petal in the loss.

    Meridian will travel to Hattiesburg on Friday.

    Southeast Lauderdale dominated Philadelphia on Tuesday, beating the Tornadoes 98-46 Tuesday night.

    Crystal Clay led the Tigers in the rout, scoring 28 points and hauling in 15 rebound on the night. Tay Ruffin had 21 points and 12 rebounds, Jasmine Bush had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Shakira Shoemaker scored 15 points on the night.

    Philadelphia was led by Precious Moore, who scored 26 points in a losing effort.

    Southeast improved to 19-1 (3-0) on the season with the win. The Tigers will travel to Heidelberg on Friday.

    DeMario Malone and the Southeast Lauderdale boys basketball team beat Philadelphia 59-51 to stay undefeated in district play Tuesday night.

    Malone scored 17 points for the Tigers, while Jake Smith scored 11 points to lead Southeast.

    Caleb Moore led the Tornadoes with 14 points in the loss.

    Southeast improves to 8-7 (3-0) with the win and will travel to Heidelberg on Friday.

NE Jones boys    39

 

    The Northeast boys basketball team beat Northeast Jones 59-39, rallying behind the play of Va'Doll Peeples Tuesday night.

    Peeples scored 16 points on the night, while Henry Anderson and D.J. Mitchel scored 10 for the Trojans.

    Josh Hosey scored 14 points to lead Northeast Jones on the night.

    The lady Trojans also received a win on the night, as they took down Northeast Jones 59-39.

    The Trojans will travel to Laurel on Friday.

    The Newton County Academy boys basketball team beat Rebul Academy 56-28 Tuesday night.

    Tre Collins led the charge for the Generals with 22 points, while Nick Pennington scored 12 and Seth McCormick scored 10 on the night.

    The Generals improved to 9-4 with the win and will travel to Veritas Academy on Thursday.

    Katie Bounds led the Newton County Academy girls basketball team to a close win Tuesday night, beating Rebul 44-41.

    Bounds scored 16 points on the night, while Faith Hollingsworth scored 13 for the Generals.

    Lizzie Daniels scored a game-high 19 points to lead Rebul in a losing effort.

    Shonte Hailes led the lady Panthers, as Quitman beat Laurel 62-35 Tuesday night.

    Hailes scored a game-high 21 points, while Aneonia House scored 10 points for the Panthers.

    The win improves Quitman to 14-6 on the season, as the Panthers travel to West Lauderdale on Friday.
