DeAndre Wansley and the Newton County boys basketball team won the Newton County Tournament, beating West Lauderdale 70-47 Saturday night.
The Cougars were led by DeAndre Wansley, who scored a game-high 19 points on the night.
Rakenyae Cole scored 11 points for the Cougars in the win.
Ty Harden led the Knights with 14 points.
Newton County improves to 13-5 with the win, while West drops to 12-4 wit hthe loss.

The Northeast Jones girls basketball team took down West Lauderdale 63-45 Saturday night to take home the Newton County Tournament Championship.
Jayde Simmons led Northeast Jones with 22 points, while Shaniqual Davis had 20.
Mallory Thompson led the Knights with 14 points, while Candice Brown scored 12.

The Choctaw Central boys basketball team took home third place in the Newton County Tournament with a 54-53 win over Northeast Jones on Saturday.
Dalton Clegg and SheChem Grant led the Warriors with 14 points a piece.
Northeast Jones was led by Jaylon Keys, who scored a game-high 23 points.

The Choctaw Central girls basketball team beat Newton County 58-25 Saturday night to take third place in the Newton County Tournament.
Mariah Lewis led the Warriors with a game-high 11 points on the night.
The Cougars were led by Kalin McCree who scored eight points on the night.

Porter’s Chapel (g) 19
Faith Hollingsworth and the Newton County Academy girls basketball team took down Porter’s Chapel 49-16 Saturday night.
Hollingsworth led the Generals with 16 points on the night.

The Newton County Academy boys basketball team fell to Porter’s 58-39 on Saturday.
Tre Collins led the Generals on the nigth, scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds in the loss.
Chance Collins had six steals and Tanner Smith had 11 rebounds for the Generals on the night.
Porter’s Chapel was led by P.J. Lassiter who scored 22 points. Teddy Brisco also scored 19 points in the win.
The difference in the game came on the free-throw line, where Porter’s Chapel shot 18/24 on the night, while NCA shot 6/21.
The loss drops NCA to 7-4 on the season. The Generals will play at home on Tuesday against Veritas Academy.

Faith Hollingsworth led the Newton County Academy girls Friday night, as the Generals beat Park Place 60-30.
Hollingsworth had 28 points to lead the Generals, while Holly Jones scored 11.
Park Place was led by Carlie Steele with 16 points.

Park Place 23
The Newton County Academy boys basketball team beat Park Place Friday night 45-23 with the help of Nick Pennington and Tre Collins.
Pennington and Collins led the Generals, scoring 14 points a piece.
