Meridian edges Gadsen City at Columbus Shootout

MERIDIAN —     The Meridian High boys basketball team squeaked past Gadsen City, Ala., on Friday during the Columbus Shootout, winning 71-64.

    The Wildcats, who improved to 11-2 and will travel to the Ridgeland Shootout today against Brandon, were led by three players in double figures. Torlorf Thomas paced Meridian with 21 points, while Devontae Brewster added 19 and Jaricus Hubbard finished with 13 points.

    It was the Wildcats’ sixth win in a row and after today’s game against the Bulldogs, Meridian will head to Atlanta next week for the Converse Invitational.
