Choctaw Central girls top Philadelphia

FOREST — Melody Jimmie led the charge for the Choctaw Central High School girls as the Lady Warriors flew past Philadelphia High School, 66-20, Friday night in the Region 5-3A tournament.

Jimmie was Choctaw Central’s only double-digit scorer with 21 points. Shameka Farmer added eight points for the Lady Warriors, who led 43-11 at halftime.

“I thought we came out and shot the ball really well to start with,” head coach Billy Smith said. “I think we made our first seven shots in a row, and that set the tone. It’s the third time we’ve played Philadelphia, and we were just trying to get ready to win that next one tomorrow.”

Choctaw Central will play in the regional championship game at 7 p.m. today.
