ECCC women, men end season versus Jones County

DECATUR — East Central Community College had three scorers in double figures, but it wasn’t enough for the women as ECCC fell to Jones County, 98-88, Thursday night.

Tynika Bender led ECCC with 32 points, while Tanihhija Hughes scored 18 points. Jaleshia Jones finished with 15 points for ECCC.

Jones County led 50-35 at intermission.

ECCC finished its season 8-14 overall, 3-11 in South Division play. Jones County improved to 16-7 overall, 10-4 in South Division play.

Ramone Tate had a game-high 18 points for ECCC, but it wasn’t enough as Jones County came out on top Thursday.

Jaques Johnson added 11 points for ECCC, which trailed 38-32 at the half. Quinton Campbell scored 10 points for ECCC.

For Jones County, Leo Garrett had 14 points, and Leroy Fluidd added 13 points. Johnny Zuppardo tallied 12 points, and Bryce Johnson rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.

ECCC finished its season 9-14 overall, 4-10 in the South Division. Jones County rose to 19-4 overall, 11-3 in divisional play.
