Clarkdale 11 Enterprise 1

Johnathan Porter and the Clarkdale baseball team made easy work of rival Enterprise, winning 11-1 at home Tuesday night.

Porter (8-0) threw five innings for Clarkdale, striking out nine batters and only allowing two hits.

At the plate, Porter led the Bulldogs, going 3-4 with two doubles and six RBIs. Keaton Smith, Todd Hughes and Dustin Alsup all had two hits for Clarkdale.

Clarkdale improves to 17-4 (8-1) on the season and will travel to Enterprise on Friday.

 

 

Southeast Lauderdale 13 Choctaw Central 3

The Southeast Lauderdale baseball team clinched first place in the District 5 3A standings with a 13-3 win over Choctaw Central Tuesday night.

Jake Smith (1-0) earned the win for the Tigers on the mound.

Andrew Black had four hits, and Mason Irby had three hits to lead Southeast at the plate. Zach Sciple and Hunter Thrower both had two hits as well for the Tigers.

Southeast Lauderdale 15-5 (7-0) will travel to Northeast on Saturday.

 

Lamar 6 Sylva Bay Academy 3

 

The Lamar baseball team clinched a spot in the playoffs Tuesday night, beating Sylva Bay Academy 6-3 in eight innings.

After squandering a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh, Lamar pitcher Cole Gray picked off a Sylva Bay runner attempting to steal home to send the game into extra innings.

In the top of the eighth, Lance Strickland delivered a two-run double and Barrett Dudley followed with a double of his own to give Lamar a 6-3 lead. Strickland had three hits for Lamar on the night.

Cole Gray (4-4) would strike out the first two batters in the bottom half of the inning before getting the last batter to pop out to secure the win. Cole pitched all eight innings, striking out 12 batters on the night.

Lamar will host Sylva Bay today at 3 p.m.

 

RCA 12 Veritas 2 (Game 1); RCA 16 Veritas 0 (Game 2)

Kyle Russell threw a no hitter in the Warriors 12 win over Veritas Tuesday night. In Game 2 Jacob Stephens earned the win, as the Warriors rolled 16-0.

Russell Christian improves to 15-4 (11-0) with the two wins and secured the 5A district championship.
