Clarkdale blanks Newton in 3 innings

It only took three innings for Clarkdale High School to come out on top versus Newton High School.

Riding winning pitcher Heather Harwell’s strong performance, the Lady Bulldogs blanked Newton 15-0. Harwell gave up just one hit and struck out five in three innings of work.

Ashley McLeod went 2-for-2 with three RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs, while Aubrey Hart was 2-for-3. Meredith Hunt tallied two RBIs for Clarkdale.

The game was called after three innings due to the 15-runs-after-three mercy rule.

The Lady Bulldogs (7-6) are scheduled to host Lake High School at 5 p.m. today, weather permitting.



Jake Miller got the win for Southeast Lauderdale High School as the Tigers beat Raleigh Thursday.

Miller struck out seven in 5 1/3 innings to improve to 4-1 on the year.

Gage Hagan went 3-for-5 for Southeast, and James Gibson had a triple. Mason Irby tallied a double.

Southeast (8-6) will host Northeast Lauderdale High School Saturday.
