Clarkdale baseball gets win

MERIDIAN — Clarkdale High School scored five runs in the second, three in the third and nine in the fourth as the Bulldogs cruised past Scott Central High School, 17-2, Tuesday.

Clarkdale (5-3) was led offensively by Levi Wedgewood, who smacked a grand slam in the fourth inning.

Blake Fuller and Paker Chaney each roped two-run doubles. Fuller added a sacrifice fly.  

Additionally, Josh Collum chipped in with two singles, two runs and a RBI. Brandon Martin added three hits in the winning effort.

Clarkdale hosts Scott Central Friday.

With the game tied, 3-3, Brett Carney’s two-out, two-run double in the fifth proved to be the difference for Southeast.  

Mason Irby, who missed the last four games due to an elbow injury, returned to the lineup for the Tigers as the designated and contributed with two hits.

Nathan Ross (2-2) tossed six innings, striking out six batters in earning the win.

Southeast (4-5) hosts Choctaw County Friday.
