Russell Christian splits two

GREENSBORO, Ala. — Russell Christian Academy captured the first game but lost the second game of a softball doubleheader at Southern Academy Thursday.

In Game 1, Russell Christian won 11-9, with winning pitcher Payton Lippert giving up one earned run in seven innings pitched with seven strikeouts.

Lippert was also 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs in the first game, and Blair Robinson finished 2-for-5.

Russell Christian lost the second game, 6-3. Lippert went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and two RBIs, and Ashlynn Carlson was 2-for-3 with an RBi. Vashti Graham finished 2-for-3.

Russell Christian (3-4) will play two games today versus Clarkdale and Smithville high schools in the Clarkdale Spring Break Tournament.
