Russell Christian softball gets split

BUTLER, Ala. — The Russell Christian Academy girls softball team split their two games at the Patrician Academy tournament Friday, beating Jackson Academy, 15-4, and falling to Tuscaloosa Academy, 4-1.

In its first game, Russell Christian’s Payton Lippert got the win, giving up two earned runs in four innings while striking out six. She also had three RBIs at the plate.

Sarah Rhett finished the first game 3-for-3 with two RBIs and four runs scored, and Hayden Myers and Lily Ramsey both had two RBIs.

Against Tuscaloosa Academy, Lippert took the loss, yielding one earned run in five innings pitched with six strikeouts. No one for Russell Christian had more than one hit.
