Meridian CC women eliminated from MACJC tourney

FULTON — The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles were looking to continue their winning ways in the 2014 MACJC State Tournament against Southwest Mississippi Wednesday afternoon, but things didn't go as planned for the green and white.

The Lady Eagles were eliminated at the hands of the Lady Bears by a final score of

71-64. MCC finishes the tournament with an overall record of 19-6 for the 2013-2014


Miaya Crowder led the way in scoring for MCC with a game-high 27 points.

Southwest Mississippi will now advance to the MACJC State Championship game which

will be played Thursday night at 6 p.m. against Jones or Pearl River.

The Lady Eagles will still have hopes of advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament by opening play in the Region 23 Tournament at Mississippi College next week in
