ECCC softball splits with Holmes CC in doubleheader

DECATUR — After cruising to a 5-0 decision in the opener, East Central Community College's fast-pitch softball squad was edged 2-1 in the nightcap of a non-division doubleheader with Holmes Community College Wednesday.

Ty Buckley belted two doubles and collected two RBIs to lead the offense in the first game.

Haley Stephens also recorded multiple hits, collecting two singles.

Kendra Wilson went the distance to record the shutout victory. She allowed two hits, fanned six batters and walked two in the seven-inning battle.

In the second game, Kelly homered for the Lady Diamond Warriors' lone run. *

Morgan Porter tallied two doubles, and Karoline Holsonback had two singles.

Kelly took the loss despite not allowing an earned run. She gave up six hits and fanned a batter.

The Lady Diamond Warriors (7-1) will host Alabama Southern at 3 and 5 p.m. Monday.
