Southeast eliminated

SUMRALL —  The Southeast Lauderdale High School baseball team's season has come to an close.

After dropping Game 1, 10-2, Friday, the Tigers lost Game 2, 4-0, of its series to Sumrall High School.

"I am very proud of this team," Southeast Lauderdale coach Shay Cooper said. "It may be hard for them to see that right now, but it was a tremendous season and effort on their part."

The Tigers (21-13) had to battle through devastating injuries all season long, including to starting second baseman, Zach Scipi, who broke his leg during spring break, and to pitcher, Gage Hagan, who was limited to position duties due to a back injury.

"It would have been easy for this group to just give up," Cooper said. "But they didn't. They kept battling. A lot of credit goes to our group of seniors. Those guys really came through for us this year."

In the loss, Hagan recorded two doubles, while pitcher Nathan Ross kept Southeast within striking distance by limiting Sumrall to one run through five innings.
