NCA boys’ hoops drop MAIS opener

SCOOBA —     The Laurel Christian boys’ basketball team used a consistent scoring effort and big fourth quarter to over run the Newton County Academy Generals, 59-36, on Monday night.

    The Lions took a six-point lead into half time, 26-20 and doubled NCA’s second half output, 33-16 in the win.

    The Generals (0-1) were lead by Chance Collins and Nate Johnson (five rebounds) each with 11 points. Collins added seven rebounds and four steals.     

    Ethan Parker grabbed 10 boards for NCA.

    Laurel (2-0) was led by two double-digit scorers — John Walters with 20 and Malik Jackson with 10.

    All four NCA teams will be in action on Tuesday night. The junior high girls’ will take the court at 4 p.m. followed by the junior high boys, varsity girls and varsity boys as previous games end.
