EMCC No. 2, JCJC No. 4 in new poll

MERIDIAN — The East Mississippi Community College and Jones Junior College football teams came away victorious over the weekend.

However, first-round wins in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges playoffs were not enough to raise either of the two teams’ ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association football poll this week.

Georgia Military College (10-0) sits atop the rankings for the sixth straight week.

EMCC (10-0) is still in the national championship picture at No. 2, while JCJC(9-1) is on the outside looking in at No. 4.

The two teams will meet on Saturday, as EMCC hosts the MACJC championship.

Previously No.5 ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College fell to No. 9 after suffering a 45-28 loss to EMCC last week.

Five MACJC schools are listed in the NJCAA top 20, as Copiah-Lincoln Community College (No.10) and Hinds Community College (No. 17) also help make up the poll
