Southern Mississippi beats Liberty 74-56

HUNTSVILLE, Texas —

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Jonathan Mills scored 18 points and Dwayne Davis had 14 to lead Southern Mississippi to a 74-56 victory against Liberty in the Progressive Legends Classic on Wednesday night in Huntsville, Texas.

Mills also had eight rebounds. Norville Carey added 13 points for the Golden Eagles (5-0).

John Caleb Sanders scored 15 points for the Flames (0-6). Tavares Speaks added 10. JR Coronado had nine rebounds.

The Flames made just 17 of 50 (34 percent) attempts from the floor. The Golden Eagles shot 59 percent.

Southern Mississippi led 31-25 at halftime and stayed in front.
