Weather forces delays in baseball, softball

Back-to-back rain events Thursday and Friday forced several local baseball and softball games to be postponed.


    East Mississippi Community College's softball doubleheader at Northwest Mississippi Community College scheduled for Friday has been moved to 3 p.m. Monday. EMCC baseball's doubleheader against Itawamba scheduled for today was rescheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday.


Meridian Community College softball's doubleheader against Hinds Community College scheduled for Friday has been postponed to 2 p.m. April 1. No makeup date was announced.

MCC baseball's weekend series against Arkansas Baptist College has been adjusted. Friday's game scheduled for 6 p.m has been moved to 1 p.m. Sunday, and today's scheduled doubleheader for 1 p.m. has been moved to 3 p.m.


East Central Community College's baseball doubleheader versus Southwest Mississippi Community College scheduled for today has been moved to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Friday's prep sports

Friday's softball game between Kosciusko High School at Northeast Lauderdale has been canceled, according to Kosciusko's Twitter feed.

Newton County High School's baseball game at Quitman High School Friday night was rescheduled for a later date, according to Newton County head coach Wyatt Tullos.

Today's prep sports

Northeast Lauderdale's baseball game at Southeast Lauderdale High School scheduled for 3 p.m. has been pushed back to 5 p.m., according to Northeast coach Matt Minchew.

Newton County's scheduled baseball games against West Lauderdale High School (1 p.m.) and Clarkdale High School (6 p.m.) are still expected to be played, according to Tullos.

Meridian High School's baseball games against Wesson and South Jones high schools scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. today, respectively, at South Jones are still expected to be played, according to Wildcats head coach Robert "Popeye" Cole.

Clarkdale's softball game against Southeast scheduled for today has been canceled. No makeup date has been announced.

Meridian's softball games against Union High School and Southeast scheduled for 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. today, respectively, have been canceled, according to Meridian head coach Ray Cook.
