MCC’s win streak snapped by MMI

MERIDIAN —     The Meridian Community College Eagles returned to Scaggs Field Tuesday afternoon to continue its current nine-game home stand against Marion Military Institute and things didn't quite go very well for the Eagles.

Marion Military scored the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth inning to secure a 3-2 victory over MCC.

The Eagles dropped its overall record to 16-14 with the loss, while Marion Military improved to 7-21-1 with the road victory.

MCC scored its first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning on an error by the Tigers, and added its final run of the game in the following inning on an RBI single by Ben Gann.

Marion tied the game in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run homer by Zach Potincy and would push the game winning run across in the tenth inning on a single by Yancey Foster.

MCC finished the game with nine hits and the Tigers had eights hits in the win.

Garrett Larosa, Ben Gann, and Baylor Obert each finished the game with two hits apiece for the green and white.

MCC was ultimately its own worst enemy in the defeat by leaving 17 base runners stranded.

Kellon Hibbard suffered the loss out of the bullpen for MCC by working three innings.

MCC will return to action Friday and Saturday to close out its current nine-game home stand as Arkansas Baptist pays a visit to Scaggs Field for a three-game series.

The opening game of the series will take place Friday night at 6 p.m. and the series will conclude with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
