MERIDIAN —     East Central Community College wanted to end its most successful season since 2008 on a positive note. Mississippi Gulf Coast didn’t get the memo as the Bulldogs hammered the visiting Warriors 41-0 in the regular season finale in Perkinston.

ECCC ends its season 3-6, the most wins for the Warriors since a 4-5 mark in 2008. Gulf Coast, meanwhile, wrapped up the MACJC South Division title with the win and the 8-1 Bulldogs will host Northwest Mississippi in a state semifinal Saturday.

It didn’t take Gulf Coast long to get started Saturday either. Less than two minutes in, JoJo Snell hauled in a 43-yard touchdown pass from Clint Hatten.

Detrick Goff scored on a 1-yard run at the 8:22 mark of the first quarter and Gulf Coast added a two-point conversion to push the lead to 14-0. Four minutes later, Byron James hauled in a 9-yard scoring pass. Less than a minute into the second quarter, Elijah Hughes recovered a fumble for a Gulf Coast score and Dhaquille Williams’ 30-yard touchdown reception gave the Bulldogs a 34-0 halftime lead. Goff added a 3-yard scoring run in the fourth.
