Kemper County sweeps Northeast

Kemper County's boys got 12 points from freshman Devonta Pollard to knock off Northeast Lauderdale 49-47 in area high school basketball action Friday night in DeKalb.

The host Wildcats, who improved to 3-0, also got 11 points from Cadarrell Wilkins. Kemper led 23-18 at halftime and 34-31 going into the final period.

Northeast lost despite 14 points from Sam Hudnall.

The Trojans host Southeast Lauderdale Tuesday, while the Wildcats' next action is Tuesday at West Lowndes.

The Lady Wildcats helped make it a clean sweep for the host team by downing the Lady Trojans in the first game Friday night in DeKalb.

Kemper, which led 32-30 at halftime, outscored NEL in the first, second and fourth periods to take the win.

Chadisty Hickman poured in a game-high 19 points as the Lady Wildcats improved to 2-1, while Rotasha Windom scored 11 points.

Northeast, which fell to 2-2, got 16 points from Norianna Haynes and 15 from Quanna Grace. The Lady Trojans host Southeast Lauderdale Tuesday.

Kemper's girls face Northeast Jones at noon today in the Quitman Classic.

Jenny Wilbanks notched her second straight double-double to lead the Leake Academy Rebelettes to their sixth win.

Wilbanks scored 23 points and snared 13 rebounds to lead the team in both categories.

Emily Kea added nine points and eight boards. Hannah Peoples led LA with five assists and tacked on eight points.

The Rebelettes combined four 17 steals in the contest.

Leake Academy (6-1) hosts Simpson Academy Monday and Lamar on Tuesday.

The visiting Vikings got a big night out of Hamza Al Sabahi to take a win over Russell Christian Academy in action from late Thursday night at RCA.

Al Sabahi poured in a game-high 26 points to go with 10 rebounds and five steals for the Vikings.

Hunter Campbell added seven points for Central, while Ferris McGuire chipped in six.

Central was slated to take on Calhoun Academy Friday and hosts Winston Academy Monday.

Russell returns to action Nov. 20 at Newton County Academy.
