Meridian High School banged out 19 base hits on its way to an 11-1, rout-shortened win at Brandon in area prep softball action from late Tuesday night.
Meridian scored twice each in the first, second and fourth innings, then added five runs in the top of the fifth and won by the 10-run rule.
Senior infielder J'Quandra Hickman banged out four hits to lead the offensive onslaught, while Roneshia Brown had three hits including a triple. Olivia Taylor had a triple and a single, Kenyatta Handley had a single and a double, Breanna Hampton had two hits and Devonna Gilmer also had two hits.
Emily Ware (2-0) was the winning pitcher, while Nena Edwards took the loss for Brandon. The Lady Bulldogs backed her with just four hits.
Meridian is back in action today, hosting Hattiesburg at 6 p.m.

Enterprise 18
Taylorsville 0
The Lady Bulldogs ripped 20 base hits and picked up an easy division win at Taylorsville.
It was the 12th win in the last 13 games for Enterprise, which improved to 12-5 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs are in action again tonight when they go to Bay Springs.
Tuesday, Enterprise scored eight times in the second inning and seven times in the third.
Jordan Farrar collected three hits, while Morgan Swancey had a single and a double and Summer Robinson a triple, single and three RBIs.
Haley Brooke Smith, Selena Irby, Hayleigh Harper, Ally Harper and Madelyn Helms all had two hits while Morgan Porter added a triple. Ally Harper (11-1) was the winning pitcher.
