USM football

from school reports

HATTIESBURG – The Southern Miss football team completed a 90 minute practice in the rain Sunday evening at the Joe P. Park practice facility.

The Golden Eagles worked out in helmets and shorts for 13 periods after Saturday's scrimmage that lasted more than two hours. Today was the 18th practice of fall camp.

“We want to accomplish as much as possible while we have the players' full attention before classes start on Wednesday,” head coach Larry Fedora said. “We still have a long way to go in a lot of areas.”

The Golden Eagles will work out today and Tuesday to conclude fall camp. The team will not practice on Wednesday as classes start and will begin their game week routine starting with Thursday’s practice.

The team will hold a mock game and the final scrimmage of 2008 on Saturday. All practices and scrimmages are closed to the public.
