Quitman High School announced Tuesday the hiring of Jim Abraham as the school's new head baseball coach.
Abraham has been the head coach at Pearl High School for the past two seasons, going 44-24 during that time. He led the Pirates to the playoffs both years and won a division championship in 2007 — when they lost to eventual state champion West Lauderdale in the quarterfinals.
A former pitcher at Mississippi State, Abraham concluded his playing career as an outfielder at Division II powerhouse Delta State.
"We are excited to have coach Abraham join our coaching staff," Quitman athletic director Steve Hampton said. "His experience as a player and head coach will be beneficial to our players and program."
