Jason Brock of Sulligent, Ala., completed a dominating performance this weekend by winning the Open Wheel Modified $5,000 C&B Contracting 60 at Whynot Motorsports Park Saturday night.
Brock took the lead on lap one and never looked back.
"I started getting worried with about 10 laps to go," Brock said. "The track was starting to get slick and my setup was for a tacky track. On top of that, my engine started to act up."
The race took place behind Brock as Jared Landers of Batesville, Ark., worked his way from fifth to finish second. Shay Knight of Columbus finished third. Local racer Tim Rutledge of Whynot came home in fourth.
Brock also won the Etheridge Race Parts Inc., fast time award on Friday night with 14.735, while Ramsey Purvis of Brandon took home the hard charger award in Saturday nights main event advancing 13 spots from 22nd to ninth.
In other action Saturday night, Jim McDuffie of Meridian became the first driver to win two in a row in the NeSmith Chevrolet weekly Late Model series this season driving the H.E. Mosley Trak Star chassis by Boland Performance of Cuba, Ala.
Scott Dedwylder of Vossburg finished second, while Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba was third. Chris Jimerson of Butler, Ala., worked his way though the field from 23rd to take home fourth.
In the heavy metal Street Stock feature it was another thriller with David James holding off a hard charging Kyle Rutledge at the finish. Alex Skinner took home third.
Whynot will be back in action this Saturday night for Memorial Day weekend with a regular racing series event.
This weekend will also be Military night. Everyone active in any branch of the U.S. Military can show their I.D. at the gate and gain free admission at "The Action Track of the South." For more info go to whynotmotorsportspark.com.
