Bowling Column: Deadlines approach for tourney entry

The forty-sixth Annual Association Tournament for the Meridian Women's Bowling Association is scheduled for March 25-26 and April 1-2. All entries should be turned into tournament directors Mary Formby or Betty Aycock on or before March 12. The forty-ninth Association Tournament for the Meridian Men's Bowling Association will start in just a few weeks. March 4-5 and 11-12 with reserved entries closing on February 17. Please have your entries returned to Jason Pierce, Gene Derusha or Kenneth Miller.
Now on to the scores for the week. Tyrone McAlpine picks up high game stringing 11 strikes in a row to finish with a 298 game, while Rodney Bounds takes high series for his 279 game and 737 series. Mike Cothern picks up a 258, 266 game to finish with a 721 series, and Michael Nowell takes home a 257, 267 game with a 707 series. Top scores include Lee Hester with a 279, Mike Holcomb's 278, Larry Hattell, 266; Bob Timms, 257; and William Allen, 253. And for the ladies, Mary Edmonds take high game with an impressive 258, and Kate Grant takes high series with a 220, 244, for a 661 series. Lisa Rickles picks up a 223 with a 624 series, Anita Wysocki, 610 and Denise Rutlege take a 238 game with a 607 series. Adrienne Watkins picks up her second 600 series with a 221, 222 games and 607 series. Taneezia cook had a 225 game and 604 series. More high games include Yolanda Edmonds picking up a 232 game and Paula Wooten taking home a 238. Last week we missed a top score. Paula Wooten on the Tuesday night Bowlerettes takes home award for a triplicate 193 ending with a 579 series. The young adults are still putting up some top scores with Christa Terral picking up a 145 game and 421 series, and Chase Dooley taking home a 205 high games.
High School Bowlers have been rolling out some high scores over the past few weeks. Starting off with Breanna Harris, 218; Ryan King, 197; Ashton Johnson, 202, 217, 213, 632; Adam Boren 214; Sarah Terral, 228; Johnathan Hearn 254, 203, 614; Logan Tucker, 226; and Albert Edmonds, 220. High School bowling takes place every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoon at 3:30 pm. We invite you all to come out and show your school spirit while these young adults compete. They will be making their first travel match to Rebelanes in Tupelo on February 18.
