    • NorthPark Church hosts several support groups each week. Griefshare meets Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Single & Parenting meets Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Divorce Care meets Wednesdays 6:30 to 7:30. NorthPark Church is located at 7770 Highway 39 North in Meridian, just across from the North East Middle School.

Saturday Oct. 12

    10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Youth Fall BBQ fundraiser. $7 per plate includes: ? BBQ chicken, potato salad, baked beans, bread (tea for dine-in only).     7 p.m. — There will be a Southern Gospel Concert on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in Stuart Memorial Auditorium at 939 Old Salt Rd., Sumrall. Charles Morgan, soloist of Seminary The Ford’s of Purvis, will be the artist. Good Hope Road Quartet of Improve Community. A love offering will be accepted.



Sunday, Oct. 13

    9:30 a.m. — 8th Avenue Baptist Church will have its Homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 13. Sunday school will start at 9:30 a.m., with worship at 10:30 a.m. A potluck luncheon will follow.

    4 p.m. — Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Lauderdale will host a singing festival to honor the church's pastor, the Rev. Grover Mosley. All choirs, male and female chorus groups, gospel groups, praise teams and soloists are invited to participate. The church is located at 4126 York Road in Lauderdale.



Oct. 16

    The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will partner with a local charity, Feed by Faith, to provide the homeless with basic necessities to help prepare for upcoming cooler weather. Individuals, families, and school and church groups are encouraged to participate by assembling backpacks and/or contributing needed items. The "Backpacks for Hope" service project will take place at the church at 5805 N. Hills Street, Meridian. Drop will be Oct. 16 from 6-8 p.m. and assembly will be Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m.  Needed items are backpacks, hats, gloves, blankets, socks and toiletries. Oct. 16-20

    7 p.m. nightly — Revival services will be held at Fitkins Memorial Church of the Nazarene Oct. 16-20. The Rev. Charles Tillman, pastor of the Woodville Church of the Nazarene, Richmond, Va., will be the guest speaker. Services will begin at 7 p.m. nightly. The church is located at 1110 Dr. Charles Johnson Ave. Dr. Charles Johnson is the pastor. The public is cordially invited.



Oct. 19

    10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church will have its Fall Food Festival at the church located at 40th Street and Poplar Springs Drive. Slow-roasted pulled pork plates will be available for $7 and will include baked beans, cole slaw and Mississippi bread. Delivery will be available in Meridian for orders of five or more plates. Whole Boston butts can be purchased by reservation only for $30. There will also be a baked and frozen goods sale, featuring homemade cakes, pies, cookies, breads, frozen casseroles and homemade vegetable soup and chili.  Proceeds will go to local missions: South Harbor Shelter; Care Lodge; Meals on Wheels; and Love's Kitchen.

    2-4 p.m. — Central Baptist Church (formerly South Side Baptist Church), located at 2511 C St., in Meridian, will host a "Meet & Greet." There will be fellowship with former pastors and friends. For more information call 601-693-4288.
