    • NorthPark Church hosts several support groups each week. Griefshare meets Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Single & Parenting meets Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Divorce Care meets Wednesdays 6:30 to 7:30. NorthPark Church is located at 7770 Highway 39 North in Meridian, just across from the North East Middle School.

Saturday Oct. 12

    10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Youth Fall BBQ fundraiser. $7 per plate includes: ? BBQ chicken, potato salad, baked beans, bread (tea for dine-in only). Dine-in or carryout / Walk-ins welcome / delivery available for four or more plates. Westwood Baptist Church / 1224-65th Ave., in Meridian. Phone 601-482-3283.

    7 p.m. — There will be a Southern Gospel Concert on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in Stuart Memorial Auditorium at 939 Old Salt Rd., Sumrall. Charles Morgan, soloist of Seminary The Ford’s of Purvis, will be the artist. Good Hope Road Quartet of Improve Community. A love offering will be accepted.

Sunday, Oct. 13

    9:30 a.m. — 8th Avenue Baptist Church will have its Homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 13. Sunday school will start at 9:30 a.m., with worship at 10:30 a.m. A potluck luncheon will follow.

    4 p.m. — Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Lauderdale will host a singing festival to honor the church's pastor, the Rev. Grover Mosley. All choirs, male and female chorus groups, gospel groups, praise teams and soloists are invited to participate. The church is located at 4126 York Road in Lauderdale.

Oct. 16

    The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will partner with a local charity, Feed by Faith, to provide the homeless with basic necessities to help prepare for upcoming cooler weather. Individuals, families, and school and church groups are encouraged to participate by assembling backpacks and/or contributing needed items. The "Backpacks for Hope" service project will take place at the church at 5805 N. Hills Street, Meridian. Drop will be Oct. 16 from 6-8 p.m. and assembly will be Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m.  Needed items are backpacks, hats, gloves, blankets, socks and toiletries.
