Griefshare helps cope with loss

MERIDIAN —     Griefshare – a seminar and support group ministry of comfort and care – begins Monday, Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at NorthPark Church for those facing pain from the death of a loved one. This 13 week series helps people learn how to ease the pain and recover from the death of a loved one.

Earl Wheatley, Senior Pastor at NorthPark Church says, “We searched long and hard before beginning our grief recovery ministry nine years ago. We were delighted when we found Griefshare and the wonderful resources this ministry offers. The information shared truly helps people understand the dynamics of grief and make progress in facing their loss.

"Using video presentations by Zig Ziglar, Joni Erickson Tada, and other noted Christian speakers, the thirteen sessions touch every aspect of grief. The videos along with the daily devotionals and group sharing make this a powerful tool anyone can use as they begin their journey of healing.”

“Our group is facilitated by Anne King, a member of our church," Wheatley said. "She was widowed several years ago, participated in one of our earliest Griefshare groups, and is now the facilitator of this ministry. Her own life was deeply touched by grief through the death of her husband, Billy, but she is turning that loss into a great gain for others. The nine sessions Anne has led have allowed her to see many people make great strides in overcoming the pain and loss that follows the death of one we love.”

Griefshare is open to anyone who would wish to participate.  A donation of $40 is requested to help cover the cost of the book, devotional and other Griefshare materials.
