Signposts on the road to Armageddon

MERIDIAN —     Jesus, “When & What will signal the end of the world?”

Have you considered whether the events of life are providing a signal or sign of “the end of the world?” Is it possible that the rejection of the God upon which this nation was founded no longer defends the nation that rejects Jesus the Christ?  Was prayer removed from the home at the same time it was removed from school districts? Has the absence of a Holy God from our society created a vacuum in the spirit of man that seeks to satisfy that emptiness?

Jesus stated in Matthew 24:12, “because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.” Drive-by shootings and random violence have shattered the security families once had of being safe in their neighborhoods.     Schoolchildren are no longer sure which of their classmates may be carrying a gun. When we look at 2013 without God, without parent control and without leadership for the youth of today, we should expect a new generation of killers, feeling no blame and no shame.

If our land is to change all the bloodshed, violence, racial hatred, moral decay, drug abuse and outbreak of deadly sexual diseases in our society America must inject the God image into the three legged stool required to “train up a child in the way he should go.” Break any leg of the stool and the training may be lost.

First Leg — There is no way a child can be latch key and arrive at adulthood without strong parents. That means both parents are required to input love, biblical discipline and hope in the mind of the child. No abuse by a heavy hand and abuse by no hand in control of the child can be tolerated. The greatest abuse in our society is non-directional, physical absence of a father or mother in the life of a child.

Second Leg — Our society wants to blame someone for everything that happens in life. The child from an early age must learn responsibility, self-control and discipline. At the same time a profound education with a strong reading ability cannot be overlooked. The child must be made responsible before his parents and not a judge. The child must learn that he or she has a responsibility in life to achieve success.

Third Leg — The world society demands an educated person that has achieved the level to which they have been blessed; whether a person has a trade school, high school, associate degree from college or higher, the performance must be at that certified level. To certify without performance is an education lie to the student for which the educating authority is responsible. The legal mandate for every student is that the education must be free and appropriate. Don’t think for a moment that any student disrupting a class would not get special attention.

Wickedness! Why do we have it? We learn “that in the last days there will come times of difficulty,” 2 Timothy 3:1-5 expressed from the heart of God to the Apostle Paul; “People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God — having a form of godliness but denying its power.”

“God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already.” (John 3:17-18)
