Signposts on the road to Armageddon

The Meridian Star

MERIDIAN —     The event of the Blood Red Moon Tetrad will occur only once in this century which sparks the question as to why, now, at this time and what does it mean?      Further, as students of Bible prophecy we recognize that most prophecy given by Jesus in Matthew 24 has been fulfilled. Jesus said that before his coming, verse 29, "Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.”

Verse 33 follows with, “Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.” This statement confirms the creation statement of God as he warned in Genesis 1:14 that the lights of heavens will “serve as signs to mark sacred times.”

As we search the scripture we immediately see the warning of the physician, Dr. Luke, 21:11. “There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.” Could there be a pestilence, plague and sickness as an end time warning with all the medical advances we have seen?

Maybe some form of Obama Care is timely. The most dreaded disease in the times of Jesus was leprosy as family members were ostracized and reuniting after a miracle healing was allowed only if certified by the priest.

Pestilences from a pathology view point may be any epidemic outbreak of a deadly and highly infectious disease, such as the plague, aids in Africa, swine flu or bird flu. Will diseases reach a stage where resistance of the virus is greater than the ability of the medicine to cure? We continue to ask. What warning is brought in the “great signs from the heavens?”

As Passover Festival approaches the Jewish people will celebrate and commemorate that God freed them from slavery in Egypt in a powerful miracle.          God made another commitment to Israel just after He gave the law in the wilderness of Sinai and before the mountain, God gave a conditional promise.  Exodus 15:26 God said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.”

God’s command was to obey the Mosaic Law or He will cause disease, 28:22. “The LORD will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish.” This scripture shows He is in sovereign control over diseases and other afflictions.

Is the behavior in the world getting better, or does it continue as it always has been, or is it on a downward spiral? Matthew 24:37 says that it will be “as it was in the days of Noah … at the coming of the Son of Man.”

When we think of this time we must realize that only eight were saved in the world from the flood. If we observe the same pattern in Sodom and its destruction we find that only four were extracted before the doom occurred.

God has always wanted to live with His creation. He sent his Son as a second effort to bring righteousness to His creation. He told Israel, Exodus 29:45, “I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God. They will know that I am the LORD their God.”

God the Son told the disciples He was going to prepare a place for them in heaven, but I will come back again. Jesus stated he would not leave you comfortless in John 14 and “I will ask the Father and he will give you the Spirit of truth … But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

Should we be afraid of the world problems, pestilences and the signs of time? Absolutely not!  God says, “I am the LORD, who heals you.”
