Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012

     10:45 a.m. – Trinity Assembly of God invites the public to a series of meetings and messages from Prophet Glenn Miller Oct. 14-17 at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, and again at 6 p.m. The event will begin at 7 p.m. nightly after that.

    11 a.m. – Prospect Presbyterian Church, 7876 Poplar Springs Drive, will be celebrating  its 125th anniversary of their annual homecoming service with Dr. Reid Whittington delivering the message. Pot-luck lunch will be served at the pavilion immediately following worship.

    11 a.m. – Chalk artist, Keith Carpenter from Fulton will be in the morning worship service at Christ Fellowship Independent Methodist Church located at 2414 State Boulevard. Come and see him make his work come alive with lights. Call (601) 693-9166, and (601)482-8300.



Saturday, Oct. 20

    8:30 a.m. – Oak Grove M.B. Church in Montrose will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at the church. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The walk will begin at 9 a.m. The registration fee will be any donations given. All funds will be donated for cancer research. All are invited, even if you are not walking, there will be something for you to do. Please come support us, but most of all support this cause.

    10 a.m. – Walker Chapel will have a fish fry. Plates are $6.50 and includes three pieces of fish, baked beans, cole slaw or potato salad, and a slice of cake. Call (601) 938-1036.



Sunday, Oct. 21

    10:45 a.m. – Eighth Avenue Baptist Church will have their annual homecoming service with a potluck lunch following.

    11 a.m. – Chunky Baptist Church will have their 47th Annual Homecoming led by Guest Minister of Music, T.R. Darsey and Rev. Robert Rowzee. Lunch will be served following the service. Everyone is invited to attend.

    2-5 p.m. - Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ is having an outdoor church service with a kids puppet show at Bonita Lakes Park. The public is invited to attend. The event is called, "It's all about the Love" given to and received by Jesus. The church will also have a petition to get prayer back in school and are asking residents to drop by to sign the petition. Bibles will be given away and a community cross will be available for people to place their prayer requests. Praise, worship and testimonials are planned.

    2:30 p.m. – Wahalak Missionary Baptist Church of Butler, Ala. will observe the Fourth Year Pastoral Anniversary Celebration for their pastor and first lady, The Rev. and Mrs. Ecclesiastes Goodwin, Sr. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Theodis McSwain, pastor of the Gilfield Missionary Baptist Church of Pushmataha, Ala. Everyone is invited to come and share with us as we show love and honor to our shepherd and pastor.



Monday, Oct. 22

    6 p.m. - 8 p.m. – Free Seminar, "The Role Healthy and Respectful Manhood Plays in Domestic Violence Prevention," hosted by Care Lodge Domestic Violence Shelter will feature Mr. Tony Porter, co-founder of A CALL TO MEN: The National Association of Men and Women Committed to Ending Violence Against Women, at NorthPark Church, 7770 Highway 39 North in Meridian. Call (601) 482-8719 for more information. 



Saturday, Oct. 27

    10 a.m.-1 p.m. – Poplar Springs United Methodist Church Fall Food Festival. Slow-roasted pulled pork plates for $6 with baked beans, cole slaw, and Mississippi bread. There will also be a baked and frozen goods sale. All proceeds go to local missions. Call (601) 485-5598 Ext. 122 to pre-order.

    6 p.m. – Antioch Missionary Baptist Church will host a healing and deliverance explosion in Daleville. Call (601) 483-2771.



Sunday, Oct. 28

    4 p.m. – Goodwater Baptist Church will hold its annual fall festival, which will include carnival games and activities for all ages and a cake walk for children and adults.     3 p.m. – Agape Storehouse Church will honor their Pastors John and Linda Willis in their 13th year. Everyone is welcomed to attend.
