Male and female

MERIDIAN — Here is where the ability to laugh at our self can become the oil for the engine of marriage. We gain mature hindsight from surviving these personal struggles. Wisdom can come to us when we endure the tough places and still love each other anyway. If you are not in it for the long haul, you won't know the joy of walking in the grace of life, a gift that God intends for all of us.

Love is a decision, not an emotion. Love is a commitment, not a convenience for the moment. Love endures; love forgives; love makes sacrifices; and love causes two people to grow up together, to become one, and to make a family while they are making memories.

Like fine wine, love grows better with age. The blush of romance on a young bride’s cheek can become the burning flame of long-lasting love, the smiling eyes of satisfied desire cradled in safe arms. Her hope can endure because she knows her husband will be the last man standing, still defending her honor and peace.

Yes, being married has its moments. But being lonely is far worse. Male and female are so different that it takes real work to relate to each other. At the end of the day, I get to go home to my wife, and that is worth everything to me!
