Children raise funds for St. Jude's

MERIDIAN —     With the help of children from Central Children's Center at Central United Methodist Church, more than $8,500 was raised during a recent fundraiser to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital.

This is the twelfth year the Children's Center has conducted the annual fundraiser. Over the years, at least three of Central's children have been helped by St. Jude Children's Hospital, organizers said.

This year's Honorary Grand Marshal for the Children's Center parade was Eden Smith, a 10-year-old child from Newton who recently underwent treatment at St. Jude Hospital.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded in 1962 by entertainer Danny Thomas, is a leading pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children's catastrophic diseases, according to a press release.
