Signposts on the road to Armageddon

MERIDIAN — Tribulation is a theological period of time that many believe to be coming as a seven year event after the Church is gone to heaven. There are several categories of believers who interpret the scripture differently with some people refusing to accept the biblical concept.

Consistent with Bible prophecy some Christians believe the period is immanent. Further, it is completely within the predicted Bible limits that only a small percentage of people will escape. Matthew 7:14 reads, "narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

During the apocalyptic period of time one will read that there are no more preconditioned, unfulfilled prophecies related to the return of Christ. Every indicator given by God is in the continuing state of completion. Jesus is ready to return as he awaits the command from the Father, “Son, go get my Children.”

God revealed to John the Revelator through an angel that cataclysmic weather events will develop in the earth atmosphere in Revelation 6:12 in the sixth seal. “And there was a great earthquake. The sun became as dark as black cloth, and the moon became as red as blood.” NASA has the first scheduled date for this blood red moon on April 15, 2014.

Continuing in Revelation 6:13, “the stars of the sky fell to the earth like green figs falling from a tree shaken by a strong wind.” In preparation of the prophetic Tribulation time all of these events have occurred in recent years.

The liberal educated mind will not allow any thought pattern that God is able to do this mighty creative thing. Every time Pat Robertson associates God with the weather the media goes ballistic.

Egyptian history shows the LORD rained hail on the land and (Exodus 9:23) “the LORD sent thunder and hail, and fire darted to the ground.” In 1 Samuel 7:10 “the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the LORD thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day, and so confused them that they were overcome before Israel.”

Then we find in Mark 4:39 that during a terrible storm on the Sea of Galilee, Jesus “arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”

In the last few years we find the influence of massive walls of water encroaching on land in the form of Tsunamis, hurricanes ripping the coastland of every continent, Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast and we must include the tornado winds of the last few days in Oklahoma and Missouri which killed so many people and devastated the land.

If these illustrations are a precursor to Tribulation weather phenomena are you able to imagine the site conditions on earth that will prevail. I certainly want to be “caught away” before these events occur.

Jesus said that weather will be a sign at the time of His return in the heavens. When we read Matthew 24:29-33 there is a crescendo progression in the seals of the “wrath of the Lamb” that intensifies.

The summary statement after the sixth seal clings to our heart as we recognize the cosmic disturbances that probably include nuclear war. “The powers of the heavens will be shaken” and we read, "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.  "And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

When you see these things begin to happen, God wanted all to know that HIS coming was at the door as HE concludes HIS thoughts with the following statement.  Matthew 24:33 "So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near — at the doors!
