My youngest son called my office a few weeks ago and in my absence he left a message. Tell dad that his favorite son called. He went on to say that he was the last child because as parents we had achieved perfection with him. Please call! I need to talk!
Since I have four favorite sons I wondered about the thought of God having a chosen people. This is what HE said in Deuteronomy 7:6 "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself.” As His chosen people God said to Israel, “If you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then you shall be a holy nation." (Exodus 19:5-6) To the Jewish believer that is powerful. 1 Peter 2:9 states to every believer that “you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people…(10) who once were not a people but are now the people of God.”
Do Jews believe they are God’s favorite or chosen people? In a recent survey of Israeli Jews the result reveals that 70 percent believe that they are God’s chosen people. God has a plan for Israel in an everlasting covenant with God. In judgment Israel was scattered because “they defiled (the land) and God … poured out His fury on them … for their idols … and they were dispersed.” (Eze36:16)
God further instructed Ezekiel 34:13 that He “will bring (the Jews) out … and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land.” God did that in 1948 and He predicted the return of pure Hebrew language to be revived in the last days even though it had not been spoken for 2000 years. God kept His Word and told why in Ezekiel 36:23. "And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations” by Israel.
The Middle East continues to boil as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) moves with empowerment like a terrorist army. ISIS, as a group of terrorists, is providing advance warning through the media that the day of “Jacob’s Trouble” may not be too far away. What is the world looking for as wars and rumors of wars loom with a threat before every nation? The world is looking for peace and a leader who will be able to implement peace.
The idea for a New World Order has been floated for many decades by such politicians, as Dr. Henry Kissinger, V.P. Joe Biden, President George H.W. Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev. It will take a demonstration of power with flamboyance to be able to deceive God’s chosen people into thinking this false leader is the long awaited Messiah. Israel will sign a peace treaty, states Daniel, and a “fierce-looking king, a master of intrigue, will arise.”
“He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people.” Christians should not be troubled by this man of (lawlessness) or leader of the New World Order. God said in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-7 that certain events must take place before he is revealed.
The day of “Jacob’s Trouble” or Tribulation will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed at God’s appointed time. But, what is holding this lawless one back? This anti-Christ will remain secret until the new world order is in place. "This (lawless) man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles.” (2Th 2:9)
Again, what is holding this lawless one back? The Holy Spirit who resides in the body of Christ, the Church! The restraining force to the beginning of “Jacob’s Trouble” is the Church witness to the world. "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.”(Mat 24:42)
