Sunday, July 14

    3 p.m. Officers and members of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Laurel, Miss. will hold installation services of the new pastor, Rev. Ecclesiastes Goodwin, Sr. The guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. Carlos Wilson, pastor of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church of Hattiesburg and president of the East Mississippi Baptist State Convention, Inc. The public is invited to attend.

July 15-19

    5:30-8:45 p.m. — Vacation Bible School: God’s Backyard Bible Camp at Faith Baptist Church in Meridian, will take place at the church located at 5050 Highway 19 North Meridian. Children will engage in different activities as they learn the truth of God’s word and discover how God calls us to Serve Family, Serve Friends, Serve Neighbors, Serve Community and most important of all Serve Jesus. Dinner is served for kids nightly at 5:30 p.m. Vacation Bible School is open to all children in grades 1st through 6th grade in the community. Parents need to preregister their child by calling Faith Baptist Church at 601-485-5658 or register online at www.faithbcmeridian.org.

    6-8:30 p.m. — Rolling Creek Baptist Church is having Vacation Bible School July 15-19 from 6:00-8:30 each night. For more information, call 601-659-7401.

July 18

    7 p.m. — The Whisnants of Morganton, N.C., along with Southern Heritage of Philadelphia, Miss., will be in concert at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Newton. The church is located 5 miles North of Newton on Newton-Conehatta Road (4442 Newton-Conehatta Road). A love offering will be received. For more information, call 601-896-2249 or 601-683-3928.

Saturday, July 20

    9-11 a.m. — Mount Horeb Baptist Church 5513 Zero Road in Meridian is kicking off its Vacation Bible School registration. Activities include a space walk, games and refreshments. Vacation Bible School will be Sunday from 6:30-9 p.m. Family night will be Friday, July 26. Organizers invite residents to come out and join in on the fun while learning about Jesus Christ our Lord.

    7:30 p.m. — "A Night of Bluegrass Gospel" will be held at Stuart Memorial Auditorium, 939 Old Salt Road and will feature Joel and Michelle Duckworth and friends, as well as Matt Cowart, of Matt Cowart Ministries. A love offering will be accepted.
