Signposts on the road to Armageddon

MERIDIAN — World power Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar, said to the Judah, King Jehoiakim, I’ve got your palace kids. Do what I say or else and Daniel was taken into captivity in the land we call, today, Iraq.

After a lifetime of service to God and to the empire Daniel wrote his instruction from God in Daniel 12:4 as follows. “Keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase."

Daniel has been recognized by several world powers such as Persia, Greece and Rome as a scholar, diplomat, educator and prophet. He demonstrated wisdom at all times and he never compromised his relationship with God. The truth is fulfilled, today, from his prophecy given after August 605 BC.

Daniel was given a vision that predicted the end of the age by an affluent increase of knowledge that signaled “the time of the end.” Who could imagine the rapid advancement of the information age we see today?

The information explosion causes every parent to want the best education legacy available for their child. This generation is astute and different in many ways. Daniel was 16 years old when he was taken from his family as captive into Babylon.

The consistency of his character and faith was an outcrop of the Jewish home even though the time was evil, sinful and God was bringing in a pagan king to discipline Israel. After three years of royal school training and discipline Daniel was distinguished for his proficiency in the "wisdom" of his day, and entered public life.

What am I saying? The fundamentals of learning and education have never changed. We have changed the process with the exchange of responsibility from the home to school. As an additional obstacle in the cycle of learning we are impacted by the knowledge increase and the information age.

Further, we have mandated attendance by state law that ends at the age of 16 or effectively designated as the 10th grade. Why not follow the Daniel age cycle and provide our 16 year olds a choice to attend community college for four years to complete their high school diploma and Associate Degree while remaining in the home environment. If this idea is distasteful to the reader who may want their offspring to be exposed to life be assured that there is time for kids to return home under the 26 year age medical plan by Obama Care.

We are fortunate in our area that students may avail themselves of vast Education opportunities.

By now, the reader is wondering why the writer is in this thought process? It is because the values of our home area are considered to be blessed of God with the riches of life that have nothing to do with money.

Never should the learner be discouraged in the advancement of a young mind. However, never would I recommend some of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning when the only thing the administration has for professors are degrees without common sense.

Case in point is as follows. MSNBC host stated: “Kids belong to whole communities, not parents.”  Tulane University Professor Melissa Harris-Perry’s statement shows the failure of college leadership in the Tulane University system.      Yes, I understand free speech and I also recognize stupidity. Dr. Thomas Sowell, Investor's Business Daily, attacks some of the problems within the university system with his May 20, 2013 article entitled “Undoing The Brainwashing That Students Get In College.”

Your precious child that God gave you reaches an age of accountability after being educated in the womb with love and nurture. By the age of 7 to 9 he or she has learned half of everything they will ever learn. Through the teen years your baby grows into the early adult years and is the visible reality of the statement of God when the adult age arrives.

Proverbs 22:6 (NLT) “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.”
