Fun from above
Christian events happening in Meridian
By Ben Lockridge / staff writer
Looking for something to do for the next few weeks? Look to the church.
Christians can have a good time, and to prove it local ministries have quite the load of activities coming.
On Wednesday, Oct. 15, you can make a stop to Ben Arther Davis Park at 5 p.m. And have your evening taken care of. The first annual Wow Jam happens that night, and by the looks of it there will be plenty to keep you occupied for the four hour event.
“The purpose of W.O.W. (Winning Our World) is to partner with local churches to win the lost for Christ.” said Courtney Hall, one of the organizers of the event. “We're doing this so that believers will get serious about their faith, and then put that faith into action.”
While the event is an evangelistic effort, again, there is plenty of fun to be had. There will be face painting, music, games, prize give-aways, a bounce house, and lots more. In the end, however, it's an event with a strong message. Reaching the lost for Christ. You can visit www.wowjam.com for more information about W.O.W. organization, and WOW Jam.
Church of the Mediator has it's own share of fun as well. They have a pumpkin patch that will be open to the public beginning on the the 13th this month. Visitors will be able to bring their families from 10 a.m.-6 pm during the week, and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The Church will even accept preschool classes (For a small fee) to tell stories, and each kid will even walk away with a small pumpkin of their own.
If this isn't enough, Church of the Mediator can service your stomach as well. On Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. they will have their Children's Festival and barbecue. If you can depart with $6, you can get a barbecue plate. For $20 you can get a whole boston butt. For the kid's there will be apple bobbing, face painting, and a moon walk. For more information you can call: (601) 483-3959.
