"A Night of Unity" is in it's second year, and LaBaron Hedgemon says that the purpose of the service is to bring believers together.
"The mission and purpose haven't changed," Hedgemon said. "The whole purpose is for the body of Christ to come together."
The service will represent several Christian denominations in the surrounding area to come together to authentically worship God.
"We have pastors that are Baptist, Methodist, and other denominations involved. This is a night where we release all our differences and move in purpose," Hedgemon said.
LaBaron said his focus verse for this overall idea of unity came from Psalm 133. The verse reads: "How good and pleasant it is when brothers can live together!"
"God says unity is good for the body of Christ," Hedgemon said. "The whole purpose is for the body of Christ to come together because God says unity is good."
LaBaron says that when there is true unity within the body of Christ, it commands a blessing from God.
"I believe this is the year for a new beginning for all believers. That's why the theme this year is called, 'The Best Year of our Life," Hedgemon said.
"A Night of Unity" is on Thursday, April 10 at First Baptist Church in downtown Meridian. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the event begins at 7 p.m.
