MERIDIAN — Giant Mississippi Bear - A black bear was trapped by Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks personnel that is the largest ever captured in Mississippi. The bear weighed 432 pounds. The capture was made on July 20 in Isssaquena County north of Vicksburg. Batteries were changed in the GPS transmitter attached to a collar on the bear's neck which transmits data via E-mail to researchers.
