Elk licenses

Probably due to the high cost of gasoline, Colorado announced that elk licenses are still available for over half the traditional elk hunting units in the state. For rifle seasons October 18 – 26 and November 1 – 7, hunters need only contact the Colorado Division of Wildlife through their website,www.wildlife.state.co.us, or phone 303-297-1192

 

New products

 

Some of the newest products of outdoor sports manufacturers were showcased at the recent annual conference of the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They include the following:

Longleaf Camo is a new maker of camouflage clothing for hunters. The Mississippi company can be located through their web site at longleafcamo.com

Stren Sonic Braid fishing line. Their 20 pound test line is the size of former 6 pound test monofilament line.

Berkley’s Gulp products have expanded with a soft jerk bait called Crazy Legs Jerk Shad, about a dozen of which are suspended in a biodegradable, recharging liquid. The container is flat and stackable. The baits, or other baits, are returned to the liquid after use. The liquid adds taste and smell to the lures. The product comes in panfish size in a much smaller bottle.

Berkley Trilene Sensation monofilament line. The 12 pound test line is only .013 inch diameter. Their FireLine Braid in 20 pound test is as small in diameter as monofilament 6 pound test.

Spiderwire lines showed braids called Code Red Braid, a red colored line, and a variable colored braid called Stealth Camo Braid.  Spiderwire also has a new fluorocarbon line called Ultracast.
