Earl Leroy Alphin Sr.

MERIDIAN — 1st Class Petty Officer (U.S. Navy Retired)

                          

    Graveside services for Earl Leroy Alphin Sr. will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Alphin, of Meridian, died June 17, 2014 at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was born Oct. 16, 1934 to Earl Wesley and Ethel Lucille Whitaker Alphin in Swifton, Ark. Mr. Alphin is a veteran of the United States Navy and recipient of a Purple Heart.

    Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly Rouse of Meridian, Veronica Smith (James) of Decatur, and Judy Baughman of Meridian; sons, Earl Leroy Alphin Jr. and Wesley Alphin (Julie) of Meridian; sister, Mazie Alphin of Jonesboro, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren with two more expected.

    Visitation will be held today, Thursday, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home.
