Raymond Parkin


    PETAL – Services for Bro. Raymond Parkin will be held Sunday, at 3 p.m., at Crestview Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens with Moore Funeral Home of Petal in charge of arrangements.

    Bro. Raymond Parkin, 81, of Petal, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Forrest General Hospital. Bro. Parkin began his ministry in the Birmingham, Ala. area and served for a total of 55 years in several locations in Mississippi and Alabama, including: Carmel Baptist Church in Meridian, Vinemont Baptist Church in Vinemont, Ala., was founding pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Cullman, Ala., 26 years of service at Crestview Baptist Church in Petal, and Baxterville Baptist Church in Baxterville for the past 16 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

    Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Wanda Parkin of Petal; two daughters: Kaye Parkin (Danny) Moore of Brandon, and Faye Parkin (Kenny) Casanova of Sumrall; two sons: Rod (Kirsten) Parkin of Nashville, Tenn., and Kevin Parkin of Petal; a sister, Sara Parkin Tate of Birmingham, Ala.; and, three grandchildren: Amy Casanova Goza, Shanna Casanova and Mia Parkin.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ruby Parkin; three brothers; and, two sisters.

    Visitation will be Saturday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
