Barbara A. Caperton Sanders


    Services for Barbara A. Caperton Sanders will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Blackwater Baptist Church, with Reverends Heath Riggs, Doug Goodman and Jimmy Sanders officiating.  Burial will be in Blackwater Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Sanders, 74, of the Blackwater Community, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at her residence.

    She was a member of Blackwater Baptist Church where she had served as secretary and treasurer.  Mrs. Sanders also worked as an assistant to the Kemper County Baptist Association.  She served as Election Commissioner of Kemper County and served a term as President of the MS State Election Commission. Mrs. Sanders served on the American Red Cross Board and was active in the Kemper County Historical Society.

    Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Charles “Mickey” Sanders of Blackwater Community; daughter, Debby McRae and her husband Stephen of DeKalb; son, Charles G. “Chuck” Sanders, Jr. and his wife Donna of Blackwater Community; grandchildren, Erin Reynolds of Meridian, James Coleman and his wife Stephaine of Shuqualak, MS, Nichole Sanders of Oxford, MS, Molly Sanders of Hattiesburg, MS; great-granddaughter, Skylar Reynolds of Blackwater Community; brother, Charles Henry Caperton and his wife Barbara of Meridian; several nieces and nephews.

    The family requests memorials be made to Gideon’s International.

    Pallbearers will be Bill Griffin, Billy Holloway, Billy Cade, David Sorrels, Odis Doss, and Al Turnipseed.

    Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at

    Visitation will be held Monday, 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
